The day we never wanted

On November 14, 2007, our wonderful, energetic son, Tyler Alfriend, to Children's Hospital because of stomach pain. Within several hours we were learning all about Burkitt's Lymphoma, a rare, fast growing childhood cancer. Tyler has remained very strong over the past several days as the cancer was confirmed. We now know where the cancer has advanced (stage four into the bone marrow), and what we need to do to win this battle. And we will win.

Tyler is surrounded by love and prayers of family and friends. He has a long journey before him, but he is strong and will beat this.

Tyler's first concern was that he was ruining Thanksgiving for his brothers. The truth is that we will now have a new date for Thanksgiving Day. I do not know what date that is, but it is the day that Tyler comes home healthy and cancer free. That will be the greatest Thanksgiving Day our family has ever had.

I got my own account so I had to leave a comment too. Alright Tyler, I will try to keep Alex from writing you too much. This may turn into a competition.

On a serious side. There are so many people on their knees praying in agreement that you WILL be another testimony that is undeniably God!!!!
P.S. Christmas is only a month away:)
Love you buddy.

Just want you to know many in our church family at Carmel Pres. are praying for you a whole lot throughout the day, and we believe our gracious Father listens hard to the prayers of his children! We realize this is incredibly tough for you; we're sure praying you will get strong and healthy very soon. Hang in there, Tyler; so many, many are rooting for you and care about you!
