Thanksgiving Day

Doctors told us Tuesday that Tyler may be strong enough to leave the hospital for 2-3 hours on Thanksgiving. We had already planned to move Thanksgiving dinner to the hospital, but this was exciting news. It would be great to have us all together around the fireplace watching football and telling stories. When Thursday morning came around, Tyler's blood counts were so strong that he was allowed out for 8 hours! Now we could really have some time at home! It was very hard to let him go back to the hospital, but it was a wonderful Thanksgiving.
The oncology floor is very quiet now. There are 5 teenage boys here with leukemia or lymphoma. Most were healthy enough to be away over night. Tyler was able to spend 8 hours away. Nathan, a 19 year old with Leukemia, was not healthy enough to leave. Please pray for him. He has a very large and loving family. They were pouring in with boxes of food as Tyler was leaving to come home. They filled up the entire teen lounge where Tyler got his hair cut yesterday.
Tyler spend the first several minutes just walking around with a giant smile on his face.

Oreo missed Tyler very much. She was very excited to see him.

Our wonderful sons, Travis, Brandon, Erik, and Tyler. Our dog Oreo spent most of the time on Tyler's lap. During dinner she laid under his chair and never moved.

Those wonderful sons did not fall far from the tree -- you and Kathy are pretty wonderful yourselves! We'll be praying that everything will go well today, too!
