Tyler is still fighting, and fighting very hard. His white blood count is still too low to be measured. His platelets are still dropping, most likely because we have been unable to control his temperature. Tyler continues to lose weight. He has lost another 10 pounds since we were re-admitted 5 days ago. He has been put on a breathing exercise machine to work his lungs, hoping to avoid pneumonia. His antibiotics have been changed in an attempt to get the infections under control.

Travis and Kaitlyn came up with a slogan for Tyler, "Fight to Win". They ordered 500 wrist bands like Lance Armstrong's "LiveStrong" bands. They are lime green, the color of Lymphoma, and read "FIGHT TO WIN * TMA" (Tyler's initials). We took Tyler his wrist band yesterday, and he is wearing it now.

Please pray for Tyler's spirit and strength. Pray for his speedy healing to get a day or so of rest before we begin round 3 on January 7th.

Please pray for Tyler's grandma Alice, whose cancer has returned.

I have been checking the blog spot often to know specific prayer requests- will continue to pray for Tyler.
The wrist bands sound great! I will look for Kaitlin on Sunday so I can check it out!

Kyle and family,
We love the wrist band slogan! I think you would need thousands if everyone praying for Tyler had one! We are praying so hard right now for God to give Tyler's body and mind the strength it needs to heal and overcome these horrible side effects of the chemo and cancer. I find myself throughout the day just cheering Tyler on that he can do this and he is going to win this battle!! We are all praying and awaiting for that day of celebration!

Great slogan guys! You will probably never know the # of people praying, but I know you will see and are seeing the power of that prayer army! I'm checking the blog all the time and praying hard, like so many. We love you guys. Pray strong and believe.

Happy New Year:

Tyler as you FIGHT TO WIN remember all those who have been on your team, and those cheering you on to the finish line.

As 2008 approaches I feel so much gratitude for all the people who have prayed for and supported, my son, grandson, and our family. Your outpouring of love, gifts and well wishes is beyond human comprehension. This journey would not be possible without you.

Today, I started a gratitude list and that list just keeps expanding. I want to acknowledge each one of you for your kindness, generosity, thoughts and prayers for Tyler Michael Alfriend. From California to Florida it just keeps coming and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You give us strength.

Tyler you are FIGHTING TO WIN and you will succeed.

PS: When you feel stronger. A little something to do on your computer.

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through another difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name 2 things that you are grateful for today.

You might notice that the people who make a difference in your life are NOT necessarily the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones who care. And you have a lot of Care Bears out there rooting you on!!
