Our Christmas

Merry Christmas!

We are very happy we made the decision to celebrate Christmas today. Tyler had about 3 or 4 very good hours today! Last night he actually sleep in his own bed for the first time in 6 weeks (he has been sleeping on the sofa when at home). Tyler was up before either Brandon or Travis (but not before Erik!). We had a lot of fun, and even had two meals together. All in all it was a very good Christmas day.

We hung a decoration on the tree that was given to Tyler by a girl he befriended at Children's. She went home Thursday, after more than a year on the Oncology floor. Tyler said he felt very lucky to have Burkitt's, since he has meet others with forms of cancer that last for years. When we left Friday, Tyler gave the nurses Christmas stocking filled with a few gifts to pass out to those who were unable to leave the floor for Christmas. I guess no matter your situation, there are always reasons to be thankful. It is just a matter of perspective.

Tomorrow morning we are back in the cancer clinic to check all of Tyler's blood counts. He has been in more pain this time around, and the side effects started much sooner. This will be our third trip to clinic. The prior two were not easy. The first one resulted in a 9 day hospital stay. The second trip was an all day battle drawing blood through Tyler's port, causing so much pain that it put one of the nurses into tears, while another called the staff psychologist to help Tyler through the process. We are praying for an easier day tomorrow.

As always, Kathy makes a great Christmas dinner.

Our four awesome sons!

Sports gifts are always the favorite, especially when autographed to Tyler.

Dear Alfriend's
We wanted to wish all of you a very Blessed Christmas and New Year. You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. My only wish this Christmas is that God lay his hand over all those who are sick, especially The Children! May he grant peace to all of you.
With love,

Hi, Alfriends,

It was great to see that you were able to celebrate such a good Christmas day. And having everyone at home was a joy! During this holy season we celebrate the birth of God's son and we also celebrate the continuing journey of Tyler in the cancer world. May his love always surround all of you.

God Bless all of you and keep you in his arms as we all continue to send prayers and love your way.
