Still Fighting

Dublin-Jerome Hockey Team won last night! They are the Varsity Division Champions! Tyler’s buddy Adam scored the winning goal. Since they made Tyler a team member, Don brought over Tyler’s Division Champion hat to celebrate. It is great what that team has done for Tyler. Great job guys! They play again this Saturday at the Nationwide Ice House down town. Tyler will be wearing his hat for you guys.

Tyler is not feeling very good right now. He is doing a lot of sleeping because of all the pain med’s. His white counts have zeroed out, and are no longer detectible. The other counts are still low and transfusions are continuing. The feet have now all peeled (really really gross looking-they are a key attraction on the J-5 tour). The good news is that the foot pain normally ends after peeling, so some relief should be happening there soon. Right now they are too raw to walk on, so no climbing the Sears tower today.

Tomorrow is a day of more PET and CT scans to measure the cancer. The chemo has been very difficult, but its effect on the cancer has always been good. Each scan we have seen about a 20%-30% reduction in the cancer. It has been two weeks since the last scan, and we are praying that it shows another significant reduction.

Assuming Tyler’s counts move up and the fevers hold off, round 5 begins next week. Wednesday, February 27th.

Dear Tyler,

Hope you can make the Sears Tower-- go for it! So glad you got to meet Chris Quinn. We have known Chris for a long time-- he was in the same graduating class as my daughter at Coffman and last year was the Jerome graduation speaker. What a great guy!

You will get through all of this-- continue to fight to win! The whole Celtic nation is thinking of you each day!

Kyle,
It was great seeing you last night. Just by means of correction: Dublin Jerome defeated archrival Dublin Coffman 4-1 to with the Columbus Blue Jackets Cup -- emblematic of the Central Ohio High School Varsity playoff championship. That game was Sunday, Feb. 10th.
Adam indeed scored two goals -- the winner and an insurance goal --in a 4-1 win over Worthington Kilbourne the Friday night before.
And, let's hope this weekend's game are NOT our final games! We are now in the state District playoffs. We play St. Charles Saturday. If we win, we play the winner of the Coffman-Sycamore game on Sunday to then go to the District championship. The winner of that game goes to the state Final Four at Nationwide Arena.
Good luck Jerome!
And we send our best to Tyler as he has been an inspiration to our team!
