Easy Sunday

Tyler continues to get stronger as he prepares for round 6 of chemo. He is looking great. His walking is getting much better, and he is moving around at lot more. Kathy got him some new cloths that fit better. He has put on some more weight, but is still about 50 pounds lighter than before.

The best sign the old Tyler is coming back: Brandon came home from OSU to help celebrate Tyler's birthday. Tyler was waiting for him in the basement stairway. As soon as Brandon walked into the house, Tyler sniper shot him in the knee caps with his airsoft gun. Much of the rest of the day was the boys running through the house shooting each other with airsoft guns. Those stupid rubber pellets are every where. It is great to have a some good old insanity in the house. It was also a day of friends and surprises. Six months ago we would have taken this day for granted. But not now. I pray we never take a day like this for granted ever again.

I don't suppose your mom has planned any pony rides in the back yard like she used to do for your birthday, but I'm sure it will be a memorable one none the less. We're thinking of you today, as always, and saying a special prayer for many blessings to come this next year.

With love, The Rufs

Happy Birthday! Sweet 16, yada, yada, yada...tell your mom to quit shooting guns off in the house because you guys will think it's ok and then start a major indoor offensive.

Please invite Mrs. Geisler over when you are working on English...or how to use the keyboard... :)

You don't know me, but the post you had on yesterday, that's off today was very good. I'm in school studying physical therapy and reading your perspective on interaction with medical staff is enlightening as I'll be out treating patients in the very near future. I appreciate all the thought and honesty you put in your posts and am praying for Tyler and your family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER! I've posted once before but even though you don't know me nor have I met you-I think of you and your entire family very often. I am praying and knocking on the doors of Heaven on your behalf and in 1John 5:14-15 it says "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we HAVE what we asked of him! We are believing here in California! I should go find some good jokes to share

Hi, Tyler and Kathy,

Brenda told us on the phone last evening that you stopped by on your "driving around time". I'm sure you enjoyed seeing all of the Kate Brown Drive neighbors and I know that they were thrilled to see both of you. Brenda said that you are getting very tall. I can only imagine this since I haven't seen you for several years. It was so good to have such a nice report about you.

Our prayers continue for you and all of the Alfriend family. And --
Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Tyler!

I am so glad you are feeling better and were able to enjoy your birthday!

We just got back from our trip to D.C. One of the places we visited was the National Catherdral. Claudia saw the candles burning and wanted to know what they represented. Kenny told her they were in honor and memory of special people. She immediately thought of you and wanted to light a candle in your honor and she did.

Hope you continue to get stronger as you get ready to Fight and Win round 6!

Hi Everyone - This is Kathy. Tyler is doing pretty well. He went to clinic on Tuesday, Weds, and Thursday for chemo, and each evening our neighbor and friend, Rhonda has come to give him shots of chemo. He has 2 more shots tomorrow and then he will be done with this round. He is tolerating it pretty well. A little tired, and not much appetite - but no terrible side effects. Thank God!
Thanks for checking on Tyler, and hopefully soon the BLOG will be back up and informing everyone. We do thank you ALL for all of the prayers and support you have given. I know God is hearing those prayers and Tyler will be thru all of this very soon! Have a great weekend!

I am glad to hear how good Tyler is doing, I hope Aunt Sis (Kathy's mother) is doing well too. I have wanted to call but didn't want to bother her. I am praying for both.
