Nicolas had Burkitt's, and was up on J-5 with Tyler. Great news: Today Nicolas is 12 months in remission, and all scans came back great! Now that's a celebration! And the hospital visits now get further and further apart. Blood work down to every 3 months, scans every 6 months. Testosterone testing will be done every few years. Congratulations Nicolas!
Mason Woods was also with Tyler and Nicolas on J-5. This time last year he was receiving a bone marrow transplant from his brother Trey. Mason was recovering very well until recently. Today he did not get the news we were all hoping and praying to receive. He has relapsed, and the cancer appears to be moving aggressively in both the bone marrow and central nervous system. Further testing is being done to confirm the results. If the cancer is confined to the central nervous system, there are clinical trials that provide options. If it is confirmed in both locations, all traditional options are eliminated. Mason's family is now facing the single most difficult decision a parent can make. Mason is 9 years old. Please keep this wonderful family in your thoughts and prayers.
